REALTOR® Crisis Fund

The NEAR REALTOR® Crisis Fund is a fund established for NEAR REALTORS® who face extraordinary financial need. As 1099 independent contractors, REALTORS® are often hard-pressed to adequately save for unexpected emergencies or life problems. Therefore, concerned members of our association, with the support from the Board of Directors, created REALTOR® Crisis Fund. It’s principally funded by member donations, and supplemented by NEAR Caravan and non-member MLS fees.
From its inception in 2005, the NEAR REALTOR® Crisis Fund has distributed $51,931 to members who have requested assistance. The fund has helped – and continues to help – members with fire, floods, disasters, and severe health issues. Those members helped by the Fund have all been profoundly grateful for the assistance of their fellow members. They usually HATE to have to ask for help, but they are also so appreciative that there’s a place to turn in a crisis.
All requests for REALTOR® Crisis Fund assistance are reviewed by the NEAR Executive Committee, which also makes all decisions regarding funding. All inquiries are treated with confidentiality.
To make a request for assistance, please fill out a Crisis Fund Application and return it to NEAR CEO Maria Brogan (contact information is included on the form).
